November 2009 Newsletter

Robert Raike has created a very unique bear for collectors.  Mary Hopp is sharing her collection with us.  She has been collecting these adorable creatures for about 20 years.  These bears will be in the library for the next 2 months, so stop in and take a look at these cuties.

Those of you who are readers of the Christian Fiction genre please note that we are creating that specific section in the library.  It is after the regular fiction section.  We have a large readership of this genre and think this will be an asset for those readers.

The Friends of the Library are having a “mini book” sale in the library.  Stop by and look at the books, VHS, audiobooks, puzzles, coffee mugs, sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc. that they have on display. The “mini book” sale has been going well and items are replaced daily.

The Friends are also gearing up for their annual Build a Basket Around a Book Auction.  This has been done for the past 2 years and is a great fundraiser for them.  Here is how it works - The Friends will by a book for patrons to build a basket around.  For example – build a basket around a Thomas the Train book or a Curious George book for a child.  Successful adult books used in the past were “The Shop on Blossom Street” and “Dying for Chocolate”, or “The Candy Cane Murder”.  The bidding will begin on December 2 at the Friends annual Holiday Coffee here at the library and continue until Wednesday, Dec. 16.  If you have any questions please stop by or call for information.  Last year the auction raised $850 and the Friends then use the money to help the library with special items needed.
